This week is our typical peak bollworm week in cotton on the Texas High Plains.  The worm in these photos was found yesterday 08/19/2021.

Banks Grass mites

Hey guys, check out these photos of Banks Grass mites our field scout Jerik Reed took while we were getting data from our 2021 mite product efficacy trial.  Mites have not been a big issue for us this year, but we are watching them increase this week, particularly in sorghum.  Don’t forget to check out these research results packed with useful information when you need it online from our Annual IPM Report or you can catch any of our AgriLife Meetings this winter.  https://hale.agrilife.org/ipm-2/

Is it Sugarcane Aphid or Corn Leaf Aphid?

I had several calls about Sugarcane Aphids lately. These SCAs are easily MIS-identified as corn leaf aphids. The Corn Leaf Aphids help build predators of other pests so don’t treat them thinking they're SCAs.  See our guide  below or call for help identifying them!

Take care,
Blayne
