Harvest aids are a field by field decision. Peanuts: have enough digging moisture. Grain sorghum: evaluate now for whether or not it has time to mature, some still susceptible to sugarcane aphid. Wheat: consider using a seed treatment to kill vectors of diseases that show up later.

Scouting Training Day Sept 29, 2020

 It’s about that time!  Cotton strippers and combines are rolling… little by little anyway.  We will be holding our last field scout hands on training next week.  This one will highlight harvest aid decisions and readiness.  So, we can (and have tried to) describe how to check for harvest aid readiness, or we can show you.  This one will be short, but well worth the early career professional’s time.  We will meet at the Plainview AgriLife parking lot at 225 Broadway in Plainview at 8:30 am Tuesday September 29^th.  We will head to the nearest PPM field and spend about 45 minutes going over harvest aid scouting techniques.  Hope to see you then!
