We had an odd, but not unheard of, insect come in for an ID this week from one of our outstanding consultants in IPM Extension Agent Kerry Siders' territory in western Lamb. These hedgehog aphids were found in and along the edge of a grain sorghum field causing damage not too dissimilar from a healthy green bug population. They were not economic yet, but are something to watch for alongside the sugarcane aphid. We suspect that labeled sorghum aphicides should control these pests, too.
