Progressive Grower’s Breakfast June
23, 2015
Guest – Dr. Jordan Bell at Jeff’s
Restaurant in Kress
There
is quite a bit of corn being grown by producers not usually involved with corn
production in this area in 2015. This is
just the situation the Hale, Swisher, & Floyd Progressive Growers
Breakfasts were envisioned for three years ago.
At these breakfasts, producers gather round over coffee, eggs, etc. and
after a quick bug / weed situation report from Blayne Reed, EA-IPM Hale,
Swisher, & Floyd the questions, thoughts, and ideas producers have from
their farms and fields can be discussed in detail. Joining the producers are
Blayne IPM Agent, sometimes the County Extension Agents from Hale, Swisher,
& Floyd, and, if needs arise, specialists and experts. Tomorrow, June 23, 2015, we have a very special guest joining us, Dr.
Jordan Bell, extension agronomist district 1, is making the trip south from
Amarillo to Jeff’s Restaurant in Kress
for our 8 am gathering. Dr. Bell’s specialty is in corn & sorghum
irrigation management and fertility.
The
Progressive Growers Breakfasts are open to all producers and usually runs about
an hour but we generally stay until all questions are answered and work drags us
away. This group is producer driven and tries
to meet monthly to bi-weekly need depending.
Blayne typically leads off the discussion with John Villalba, CEA
Swisher, making regular appearances. If anyone is interested in this likely corn
focused breakfast with Jordan & Blayne please join us at Jeff in Kress at 8
am.
To
get on the ‘regular’ Progressive Grower’s Breakfast announcement text please
call the Hale County office at 806-291-5267 or the Swisher office at
806-995-3721 and we will get you in contact with Mike Goss, Swisher County Producer,
and primary host of the breakfasts.
Blayne
